About the Night Owls

Night Owls Jackie Flaten and Angela James founded the San Francisco Bay Area public relations firm Media Owls in 2008. Angela’s a Bay Area native, Jackie a transplant from the Red River Valley of the North.

Both are longtime PR professionals who had left agency life to pursue their own paths. Because their interests, goals and talents mesh so well, Media Owls was born.

Media Owls is intensely focused on traditional and new media. We started this business so we could concentrate on what we love to do and do best — work with innovative people to help them articulate their stories and find their audiences.

We’ve both been lucky to learn from smart, passionate PR experts — people with charisma, finely honed PR and business skills and utter confidence. Watching them work, it became apparent that every one of them tackled their PR programs quite differently — and yet (usually) hit one home run after another.

There are no absolutes in today’s roiling media sphere. Experience, conviction, resourcefulness, and an eye for real news are critical. At Media Owls, we focus on the essentials and have thrown out the noise and churn.
